Tip of Spear is proud to partner with Control Concepts Canada to deliver a Bridging Program, to assist Level 2 peace officers in doing what they love: continuing to work as peace officers. The Bridging Program provides the upgraded training these peace officers need to become a Level 1 peace officer and continue in their roles.

Registration is now open and closes on April 12, 2023.  Complete the online learning modules and quizzes by February 7th in order to qualify to attend the in-person training.

In-person training runs April 20 - April 26, 2023.

Bridging Program

The Tip of Spear Bridging Program contains all the training needed to transition an Alberta Peace Officer from CPO level 2 to CPO Level 1. The program has been carefully developed over the past few years and utilizes the most innovative, best practices from multiple subject matter experts in the field of use of force and law enforcement high-risk situations. This training prepares an officer to bring a new lens of diversity and inclusion to the ever-changing environments an officer experiences in their career. This program has been designed to provide you with the most up to date information and tactics to ensure your safety as you learn the techniques and skills taught during this training.

This blended in-person and online learning model provides an all-in learning experience to ensure your agency’s officer competencies are met as per the legislative requirements. Information will be required to be recalled and applied by combining motor-skill practice and non-motor skill material in order to demonstrate that you have met the objectives of each section. Material that you are covering here will be interleaved so that the concepts are interconnected as to avoid training silos and promote long term learning.

Prerequisites

In order to take the Bridging Program and complete your transition from CPO2 to CPO1, the following things must be completed first:

  1. Pass the physical PARE test, or other approved physical test in the past 6 months. A listing of approved testing facilities is available online. You will be required to provide a copy of your completion certificate. See our FAQ for a list of other approved physical tests.

  2. Provide proof of current appointment. You will be required to provide a copy of a letter of employment from your employer, or badge number. It is NOT a requirement for your employer to upgrade your position to a CPO1 appointment.
